The UCF cheerleading squad has been hard at work preparing for the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships that start Saturday morning at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

On Friday night the Knights hosted LSU, Wallace State JUCO, Iowa Western JUCO and Liberty University for a joint practice.  UCF has been hosting this practice for over a decade as these teams share former teammates and philosophies to cheer each other on before their biggest performance of the year.

The teams hope this practice gets the "game-time jitters" and nerves out of the way in front of their family and friends so that the team is ready to hit a solid routine on the big stage.

The Knights take the floor in the cheerleading semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m.  inside the new Wide World of Sports Complex with the top teams advancing to the finals that begin Sunday.

UCF is coming off four-consecutive seasons where it finished runner-up. The Knights have put together 12-consecutive, top-four finishes at the event and won the Division IA National Championship in both 2003 and 2007.
Coach Gooch in her 33rd season guiding the squad and has helped the Knights to a Top-10 result 21 times in the last 23 years.
