War on I4 Rivalry Series Live Stats Game Notes

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The first meeting in the War on I4 rivalry series will take place on Sunday as the UCF women's basketball team heads to Tampa to take on No. 25 South Florida.
 
Three points are on the line when the teams tip off at noon in the Sun Dome. The game will air on ESPNU.
 
UCF (11-6, 3-1 The American) closes out a two-game road stretch against its second ranked opponent. The Knights dropped their first league contest of the season against top-ranked UConn on Jan. 9.
 
WAR ON I-4

  • Sunday marks the first basketball matchup of the year in the War on I4 rivalry series.
  • The winner of Sunday's game will earn three points in the rivalry series. An additional three points will be on the line with the squads meet in Orlando on Feb. 18.
  • UCF currently holds a 21-9 lead in 2017-18, accumulating points from women's soccer, volleyball, cross country and football.

 
UCF LEADERS

  • A trio of Knights average double figures, led by Zakiya Saunders and Aliyah Gregory at 13.3 and 12.7 points per game, respectively.  
  • Korneila Wright averages 10.6 points per game and leads the team with 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per contest.
  • With four double-digit rebounding games this season, Nyala Shuler leads UCF with 7.4 rebounds per contest. Freshman Masseny Kaba leads the team with 50 offensive rebounds this season.

 
SCOUTING THE BULLS

  • No. 25 USF enters Sunday with a 13-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in The American.
  • The game marks the 29th all-time meeting. USF leads the series 22-6, but the Knights own the most recent victory, a 66-62 win in Tampa last season.
  • Three Bulls average double figures, led by Kitija Laksa's 20.7 points per contest. Maria Jespersen averages 16.7 points per contest and Laura Ferreira adds 11.7 points per game.
  • Laia Flores ranks fifth nationally with a 3.89 assist turnover ratio, dishing out 109 assists on the season.
  • Jespersen leads USF in rebounding, pulling down 9.3 boards per game.

UCF returns to CFE Arena to host Tulane on Jan. 17. The teams will tip off at 7 p.m. and the game will stream live on the American Digital Network.
