ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team opens December action on Sunday, hosting Georgia Southern at 2 p.m. in CFE Arena.
 
The Knights will hold a toy drive prior to the game. All toys will be donated to The Spring of Tampa, a domestic violence shelter, in support of a campaign started by senior Aliyah Gregory.  Read more about it here.
 
 The first 200 fans will receive a UCF stocking.
 
TIME FOR A TOY DRIVE

  • The first 400 fans to donate their unwrapped toy prior to the game will receive an ugly sweater t-shirt.
  • Any donation after the first 400 fans will receive a car flag.
  • Fans will have another opportunity to donate toys at the men's basketball game against Southeastern Louisiana on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. to receive an ugly sweater t-shirt while supplies last.

 
UCF LEADERS

  • A trio of Knights average double figures, led by Aliyah Gregory at 14.6 points per game. Zakiya Saunders averages 14.3 points per contest, and Korneila Wright averages 10.6 points per game.
  • Wright also leads the Knights with 32 assists and 20 steals.
  • Back-to-back double-digit rebounding outings bumped redshirt junior Nyala Shuler to a team-leading 6.9 rebounds per game average. She has a team-leading 25 offensive rebounds this season. Shuler is also second on the team with 17 steals.
  • Junior Lawriell Wilson is second on the team with 15 assists.


SCOUTING THE EAGLES

  • Georgia Southern enters the game with a 3-4 overall record.
  • The Eagles lead the all-time series 12-5, but the Knights earned the most recent win, a 74-54 victory in Statesboro last season.
  • The programs met regularly as members of the New South Women's Athletic Conference from 1986-1990.
  • Nakol Franks leads Georgia Southern with 9.3 points per game and is a 92.9 percent free throw shooter. Sierra Butler averages with 6.8 rebounds per contest.
  • Amira Atwater has a team-leading 16 steals and has dished out 25 assists.

 
NEXT UP
UCF hits the road for a three-game road trip. The Knights will travel to Boston on Dec. 13, followed by games at UC Davis on Dec. 17 and Pacific on Dec. 20.
