ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – After leading the UCF football team to a perfect 12-0 season and an American Athletic Conference Championship, Scott Frost was honored as the 2017 Home Depot Coach of the Year in College Football, announced Wednesday.
Frost will be honored at Thursday night's ceremony for the 27th edition of The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan. The show will air live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET from the College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Experience in Atlanta.
The 2017 campaign will be memorable for UCF football fans for many years, as Frost led UCF to its third American Athletic Conference title. The Knights led the nation in scoring and secured a bid to the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.
UCF finished the 2017 campaign ranked 10th in the nation in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls, marking the program's highest ever ranking in the Coaches Poll and matching its highest in the AP Poll. The Knights were also 12th in the final College Football Playoff Rankings.
It was also announced on Tuesday that Frost was named the 2017 AFCA Regional Coach of the Year for FBS Region 1 and a finalist for the 2017 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award from the Football Writers Association of America.
