ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team is bound for the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The women's 6,000-meter race is slated for a 10 a.m. start at Harry Pritchett Running Park.

The NCAA South Region Championships serves as the qualifier for the NCAA Championships. The top two teams for each gender, and the top four individuals not on those teams, automatically qualify for the Nov. 18 NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky.

UCF will look to seniors Rosie Chamberlain and Kalleigh Forrester, along with newcomer Beth Williams to improve on last year's 18th place finish at regionals. Chamberlain, Forrester and Williams have been among the top three finishers for the Knights all season.

Last year, Chamberlain finished 97th as an individual. Redshirt senior Marissa Codispodi and sophomore Victoria Jung each posted personal-best times in the race a year ago.
