Sokolovskiy Qualifies for F36 Main Draw

NICEVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's tennis team sent four players to the F36 Futrues Bluewater Bay Pro Circuit Championships this week.

Freshman Mikhail Sokolovskiy was the lone Knight to make it out of the qualifying draw and reach the main event. The Russian international took on Caspar Schuetze from Germany in the opening round and won 6-4, 7-5. Sokolovskiy rallied in his second-round matchup against German international Lukas Storck to win in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The rookie pulled off an upset when No. 8 seed Nicholas Bybel retired with Sokoloskiy leading 6-0, 6-3. Sokolovskiy punched his ticket to the main draw while leading 7-6 (2), 1-0 when opponent Patrick Daciek retired.

Sokolovskiy dropped his first-round decision to Hara Inoue of Japan, 6-4, 6-4.

Gabriel Decamps advanced to the second round with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory of India's Shubham Aggarwal. The Brazilian international later fell to Daciek in the second round 7-5, 6-3.

Korey Lovett earned a gritty three-set win over Mason Beiler in the opening round, 7-6 (6), 2-6, 7-5, but fell to No. 3 seed Isaiah Strode 6-3, 6-2 in the ensuing round.
