ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After picking up a pair of wins over the weekend, the UCF women's basketball team is ready to get back in action. The Knights hit the road for a Thursday night contest at Samford.
 
The game is slated for a 7 p.m. ET tip in Birmingham, Ala.
 
UCF (4-3) picked up a pair of victories in CFE Arena last weekend. The Knights topped IUPUI and Northern Iowa at the UCF Thanksgiving Classic.
 
UCF LEADERS

  • Senior Aliyah Gregory averages a team-leading 14.6 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the floor.
  • Sophomore Korneila Wright has scored in double figures four times this season and averages 10.4 points per contest. The Orlando native leads the team with 30 assists and 17 steals.
  • Redshirt junior Nyala Shuler pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds against Northern Iowa and leads the Knights with a 6.1 rebounds per game average. She has a team-leading 21 offensive rebounds this season.
  • Junior Lawriell Wilson is second on the team with 14 assists and scored a season-high 14 points in the win over IUPUI.

 
KNIGHT NOTES

  • Freshman Masseny Kaba was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday after averaging 6.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per contest last week. She also had five blocks over the three-game period.
  • Senior Aliyah Gregory continued her climb on the career charts. She moved into sixth on the made field goals list with 509 during her Knights tenure.
  • Korneila Wright leads UCF with 30 assists through the first four games. As a freshman in 2016-17, she finished one shy of the single season top 10, dishing out 129 assists as a rookie.

 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • Samford enters the game with a 2-4 overall record.
  • UCF leads the all-time series 8-2. The programs met regularly in the Atlantic Sun from 1998-2003.
  • Hannah Nichols leads the Bulldogs with 16.7 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest.
  • Charity Brown has dished out a team-leading 44 assists and leads Samford with nine steals.

UCF will take a break from action during finals week. The Knights return to the hardwood on Dec. 10, hosting Georgia Southern.
