Receiving the Prize

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Six months after winning its first American Athletic Conference title, the UCF baseball team received its championship rings.
In a small ceremony held in the Traditions Room of John Euliano Park, each of the Knights who were a part of the 2017 title team were personally handed their ring by head coach Greg Lovelady.

UCF went 40-22 in Lovelady's first campaign in Orlando. The Knights earned their hardware with a 15-9 record in The American. The Black and Gold won seven of their eight series in the conference.

The Knights raked in the postseason honors from The American. Lovelady was named the Coach of the Year. Robby Howell earned Co-Pitcher of the Year honors. Rylan Thomas was tabbed as the Rookie Position Player of the Year. Howell, Bryce Tucker and Eli Putnam were First Team selections, while Thomas and Matthew Mika garnered Second Team honors.

The Black and Gold will set its sights to the 2018 season, which opens on Feb. 16 with a three-game tournament at John Euliano Park.
