ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Another impressive week from UCF rookie Masseny Kaba led to American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
Kaba averaged 6.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per contest over the three-game stretch last week, and scored a career-high 11 points in the win over IUPUI. She finished the week with a team-leading five blocks, including a career-high three against Northern Iowa. The Dorchester, Mass., native made her first collegiate start against the Jaguars, and added a second start against UNI.
Monday's honor was the first of Kaba's career as a Knight. She becomes the fifth member on the current UCF women's basketball team to collect the accolade. Sophomore Korneila Wright earned the distinction last season, while senior Aliyah Gregory and juniors Tolulope Omokore and Kayla Thigpen have also been tabbed for the award.
The Knights (4-3) hit the road this week, making the trip to Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford. The meeting is slated for a 7 p.m. ET tip.
