ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's basketball team has opened up the 2017-18 season 3-0 and on Monday redshirt freshman Ceasar DeJesus was honored by the American Athletic Conference as the league's Rookie of the Week.
DeJesus helped lead the Knights to victories over Gardner-Webb and William & Mary during the week. The Jersey City, N.J., native is averaging 11.7 points per game, and he leads The American with 2.3 steals per contest.
He is the first UCF player to earn Rookie of the Week honors from The American since Tacko Fall during the 2015-16 season.
Additionally, senior A.J. Davis was named to the league's weekly honor roll for his performance over the course of the week. The UCF forward averaged a double-double, going for 15 points and 10 rebounds against Gardner-Webb and then came back with 17 points and 11 boards against William & Mary.
DeJesus, Davis and the Knights continue the 2017-18 campaign on Thanksgiving evening. UCF plays Nebraska at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the AdvoCare Invitational at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World.
