ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team continues its road stretch this weekend, facing Gardner-Webb on Friday and Virginia Tech on Sunday.
 
The Knights and the Bulldogs are slated for a 7 p.m. start on Friday in Paul Porter Arena.
 
UCF and Virginia Tech will tip at 6:30 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum on Sunday.
 
LAST TIME OUT

  • The Knights won a 58-57 thriller at Chattanooga on Monday. Trailing 35-22 at the half, UCF opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run to cut the Mocs lead down to three.
  • Senior Aliyah Gregory scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half, giving the Knights the lead for good with 34 seconds left to play.
  • In addition to her 19 points, Gregory finished with four steals. Redshirt senior Zakiya Saunders added 12 points and a season-best five steals, and sophomore Korneila Wright chipped in 10 points with three steals.

 
SENIORS STEPPING UP

  • Through UCF's first two games, two different senior members of the squad have stepped up as the leading scorer.
  • Fifi Ndour opened the season with a career-best 24 points on a career-high 10 made field goals.
  • Aliyah Gregory posted her first double-figure contest of the season with 19 points in the win at Chattanooga.
  • The duo, along with classmate Zakiya Saunders, are the top three scorers for the Knights through the opening weekend.

 
FULL SLATE

  • UCF faces a challenging slate in 2017-18.
  • The Knights have or will face 12 programs who advanced to the NCAA or WNIT tournaments a year ago.
  • The Black and Gold will take on four teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll a total of seven times this season.

 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • Gardner-Webb is 2-1 on the season, earning victories over Pfeiffer and Morehead State.
  • Tierra Huntsman leads the Bulldogs with 20.3 points per game. A preseason second team all-conference selection, she averages 5.7 rebounds per game and has seven steals on the season.
  • Alexus Hill averages 13.3 points per game and has five steals on the season.
  • The Knights lead the all-time series, 5-0, including a 66-52 victory in CFE Arena last season.

 
SCOUTING THE HOKIES

  • Virginia Tech holds a 2-0 record on the season, and will host USC Upstate on Friday evening.
  • Four Hokies are averaging double figures through the first two games of the season, led by Taylor Emery's 20.0 points per game. Alexis Jean averages 13.5 PPG and 9.0 rebounds per game for Virginia Tech.
  • Aisha Sheppard (10.5 ppg) and Chanette Hicks (10.0) round out the double-figure scorers, while Hicks has a team-leading 14 assists and seven steals this campaign.
  • The all-time series is even with both programs holding a victory. In last year's meeting, UCF fell just short, 67-64, in CFE Arena.
