Matias, Serrano Reach Finals at FSU

Day 2 Draws

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Monica Matias and Natalia Serrano advanced to the finals of the FSU All Conference Showdown on Saturday afternoon, as the UCF women's tennis team wrapped up Day Two of its final tournament of the fall.
 
Matias cruised in straight sets Moka Ito from Western Kentucky to win 6-3, 6-3. The Moca, Puerto Rico, native will battle Petra Hule from Florida State on Sunday morning for the Gold draw title.
 
Serrano reached the final of the Seminole draw with a 6-2, 6-4 over Furman's Carol Kerman. The Spanish international will go up against Andrea Garcia of Florida State tomorrow morning.
 
Silvia Bordes dropped her consolation semifinal match against West Virginia's Sofia Duran, 7-5, 6-2. She will face Alory Pereria from East Tennessee State for seventh place in the Garnet draw.
 
Emilia Granstrom reached the third-place match in the Speicher draw against Lyn Yuen Choo from West Virginia after defeating Anna Walter of Furman in the consolation semifinals 6-2, 6-0.
 
The Knights stuggled in their doubles matches. Matias and Serrano fell in the third-place contest of the Gold draw 8-5 to the ETSU pairing of Alory Pereira and Ioanna Markesini.
 
Bordes and Granstrom fell to MTSU's pairing of Kim Kermet and Luisa Zirilli in the third-place match of the Garnet draw, 8-7 (6).
