ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF football team is 8-0 for the first time ever and after defeating SMU on the road Saturday just one victory away from tying a program record nine-game winning streak. On Sunday the Knights climbed the national polls again, ranking 12th in the Coaches Poll and 14th in the Associated Press Poll.

The ranking of 12th in the Coaches Poll improves on what was already the team's highest ever in-season ranking and ties the highest Coaches Poll ranking ever in program history. Following UCF's historic 2013 campaign, the Knights were ranked 12th in the Coaches Poll and 10th in the AP Poll.

This is the sixth straight week that the Knights have found themselves in the Top 25, and this season's appearance in the polls is the first since said 2013 campaign.

The Knights are 8-0 with wins over Maryland, Memphis, Navy and SMU. UCF had a battle with the Mustangs, ultimately coming through on the road by a score of 31-24. UCF will now return home and host UConn Saturday at noon on ESPNU.

UCF continues to lead the nation in scoring offense, averaging 48.5 points per game. The Knights currently hold the longest streak of games scoring 30 or more points, having done so in each of the eight games of 2017.

American Athletic Conference foes Memphis and USF were also in the polls this week. The Tigers were 19th and 20th, while Bulls came in at 21st and 22nd. UCF and USF meet in the final week of the regular season, a Nov. 24 contest at Spectrum Stadium.
