ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- Two Varsity Knights have advanced past the first stage of PGA Web.com Tour Qualifying School.
Connor Arendell and Brad Schneider both turned in Top 5 finishes in a tournament held at the Grasslands Golf and Country Club in Lakeland, Fla. earlier this month.
Arendell was the tournament's runner-up, turning in a four-round score of 13-under par. Arendell was 2-over after two rounds, but he was on fire with a 63 in the third round and a 66 in the fourth and final round. He did not card a bogey in the third round, while tallying nine birdies. His scorecard was free of bogeys in the final round as well.
Schneider was 10-under for the tournament. He also fired a 66 in the final round to secure his advancement.
Greg Eason, Ryan Stovash and Hojin Kang also took part in qualifying, but did not advance.
In addition, Linus Vaisanen advanced through the first stage of European Tour Qualifying School. He was -10 in a first-stage tournament in Bogogno, Italy. Ironically, he also shot a 66 in the final round to secure his advancement.
