HOUSTON, Texas (UCFKnights.com) - Senior Korey Lovett and freshman Gabriel Decamps opened their fall season on Monday at the USA F33 Futures/Texas Tamale Company Houston Cup.
The started play in the first round of the singles qualifying draw.
Lovett faced Matthew Heinrich in the opening round, defeating the former Division II ITA National Rookie of the Year, 6-2, 6-2. Lovett's victory set up a matchup later in the afternoon against Danny Thomas. L dropped the second round matchup against the No. 10 seeded Thomas, 6-3, 6-1.
In his first match as a Knight, Decamps battled Caspar Schuetze. After dropping the first set, the Brazilian international roared back to down Schuetze, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. Decamps fell in the second round to Mac Kiger, 7-5, 6-3, in the second round.
