TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's tennis team wrapped up its opening week of the fall at the Bedford Cup.
In their first tournament with UCF, Mikhail Sokolovskiy and Vasyl Kiselyov reached the finals of both singles flights on Saturday.
Playing in the finals of the Singles A Flight, Sokolovskiy squared off with the No. 7 Chase Wood from the host Florida State. Sokolovskiy kept the match alive by winning the second set in a tie break, but the rookie could not complete the comeback in the third, dropping the match 6-4, 6-7, 10-6.
Kiselyov faced No. 3 seeded Arthur Stefani from FAU in the finals of the Singles B Flight. The freshman took runner-up honors after falling 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match.
Starting on Monday, Gabriel Decamps and ITA/ORACLE No. 23 Korey Lovett will open their fall slate with the USA F33 Futures/Texas Tamale Company Houston Cup in the singles qualifying draw. Decamps will open against Caspar Schuetze from Germany, while Lovett will take on Matt Heinrich from the United States.
