Knights Win FGCU Invite

ESTERO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team picked up its second victory of the fall Monday. The Knights won FGCU's Homewood HIlton Airport Invitational at Old Corkscrew Golf Club, outdistancing second-place Keiser University by 12 strokes.

UCF was led by seniors Manuel Elvira and Juuso Kahlos, who tied for fifth place at 12-over par. All 13 teams in the event battled tough weather conditions on Sunday, with the elements being slightly more favorable on Monday.

While Kahlos and Elvira paced the Knights, sophomore Bobby Bai and junior Donnie Trosper weren't far behind. That due was both 13-over for the tournament and finished in a tie for 11th place.

Kyler Tate was tied for 17th after 36 holes, while Jake Grula was tied for 20th. Tate was 15-over par for the two-round tournament. Grula, playing as an individual, finished at +17.

The Knights will be off from competition until February 17, when they open the spring portion of their season at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
