Opens in a new window United Soccer Coaches Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team jumped three spots in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 to No. 10 in Tuesday's poll.

The Knights moved into the top 10 in the rankings for the first time since 2012, and the first time under head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak.

UCF (7-1-1, 3-0-1) rolled to a pair of American Athletic Conference victories over the weekend, outscoring Tulsa and Memphis 11-1.  The last time the Knights had such a stretch came during the 2012 campaign. After topping ECU 7-0 on Oct. 19, 2012, UCF downed Marshall 5-0 on Oct. 21.

Nationally, the Knights rank seventh in points per game (7.89), eighth in scoring offense (2.56) and ninth in assists per game (2.78). Individually, Vera Varis is fifth in the country with a 0.34 goals against average.

The Knights have not lost a match since dropping their season opener at then-No. 4 South Carolina. UCF has topped two Pac 12 opponents and an ACC foe in the eight-match unbeaten streak.

The NCAA released its updated RPI ratings on Monday, and for the third straight week, the Knights remained in the top five. UCF held the fifth spot this week. The RPI standings rank more than 330 teams based upon their wins, losses and strength of schedule.

The Knights are no stranger to the United Soccer Coaches – previously known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) – rankings. From Dec. 2011 until Sept. 2015, the Knights had been ranked or receiving votes in every NSCAA poll.

The Black and Gold returned to the poll on Aug. 28, jumping in at No. 24. UCF has continued to move up in each release of the weekly poll.

UCF continues league play this week, making a trip to Texas for two matches. The Knights face Houston on Oct. 5 before heading to SMU on Oct. 8.
