PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (UCFKnights.com) - A trio of runners finished in the top 75 for the UCF cross country team at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday morning.

The Knights, who were without three of their top five runners due to illness and injury, finished two points ahead of South Florida in the team standings. UCF captured all six points in the War on I4 to tie the rivalry series at 9-9.

Senior Kalleigh Forrester was UCF's top runner in the 6k race at Belmont Plateau, crossing the line in 23:12.2. Classmate Rosie Chamberlain followed, finishing in 23:43.2. Freshman Beth Williams crossed the line in 24:29.1 in her first appearance at the championship as a Knight.

Sophomore Victoria Jung finished in 24:58.0 to score for the Knights, followed by senior Marissa Codispodi, who finished in 25:08.2. Junior Crystal Tejeda added to UCF's score with a time of 25:27.3, followed by senior Laura Korsmit who finished in 25:55.8.

Freshman Kayla McGowan (26:11.4) and Shiree Hinds (26:45.2) rounded out the Knights racing on Saturday morning.

UCF returns to action on Nov. 10 at the NCAA South Region Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
