Tate Leads Knights at TCI

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team wrapped up play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at Isleworth Country Club in Windermere. The Knights host the annual tournament that brings together some of the best competition in collegiate golf.

UCF finished 13th in the 16-team event. The Knights were paced by Kyler Tate, who turned in a Top 20 finish -- tied for 17th. Tate was in seventh after two rounds, but dropped back a bit Tuesday with a 2-over round of 74 for a three-day total of 215 (-1).

California won the TCI in dramatic fashion, taking a one-stroke victory over Florida and Illinois.

The following is a look at UCF's finishers in the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational:

  • Kyler Tate - Tie 17th - 73-68-74-215 (-1)
  • Juuso Kahlos - Tie 31st - 79-71-70-220 (+4)
  • Jake Grula - Tie 60th - 77-75-74-226 (+10) - played as an individual
  • Manuel Elvira - Tie 68th - 70-79-79-228 (+12)
  • Donnie Trosper - Tie 68th - 78-76-74-228 (+12)
  • Bobby Bai - Tie 75th - 76-79-74-229 (+13)

The Knights are back in action one more time during the fall portion of the 2017-18 campaign. UCF will take part in the Homewood Suites FGCU Invitational in Estero, Fla. Sunday and Monday.
