ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team held its annual Media Day on Tuesday afternoon.

Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, seniors Aliyah Gregory and Zakiya Saunders, redshirt junior Nyala Shuler and sophomore Korneila Wright met with the local media outlets.

"We're starting from day one knowing what our goals are and what the philosophy of the program is," Coach "ABE" said. "The bar is already really high right now in terms of our returning players."

In her first year at the helm, Coach "ABE" led the Knights a 21-12 campaign that included a fourth place regular season finish in the American Athletic Conference. UCF made its first appearance in The American Tournament semifinals after earning its first tournament win since joining the conference in 2013.

On Oct. 16, the Knights earned their highest preseason selection since joining The American at fourth. Gregory was named to the Preseason All-Conference First Team.

'We're not going to surprise anybody now," Coach "ABE" said. "I think that says a lot for the character of our team, and the character of our upperclassmen. (The team) is very confident. We're just really excited."

The Knights open the 2017-18 season on Nov. 10, hosting Mercer in a 5:30 p.m. matchup at CFE Arena.
