ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After UCF upended No. 22 UConn on Saturday, sophomore Cal Jennings was tabbed as the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The league office announced the award on Monday.
Jennings tallied two goals and one assist to lead the Knights to a 3-2 victory. He opened the scoring in the third minute on the road to quite a capacity crowd of 5,100 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, then registered the eventual game-winning goal in the 72nd minute.
The Roswell, Ga., native also set up the second marker of the match that was scored by senior Matias Pyysalo.
This was the second five-point match of the season for Jennings, who also netted a brace vs. Stetson (10/4/17).
Jennings is the second-straight UCF player to earn offensive weekly honors from the league. Senior Matias Pyysalo received the honor after the Knights earned a 3-0 shutout vs. Tulsa.
