Day 3 Results

ATHENS, Ga. (UCFKnights.com) – Freshmen Silvia Bordes and Maria Martinez advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles consolation draw at the ITA Southeast Regional on Saturday.

Bordes defeated FIU's Mina Markovic 6-2, 6-1 to set up a match with Brooke Milner from Stetson. The Spanish international needed a tiebreak to advance with a 6-1, 1-6 (6) victory over Milner. The freshman will face Gabrielle Goldin from Florida State on Sunday.

Martinez downed Vivian Wolff of Georgia, 6-0, 6-2, before going three sets with North Florida's Rafaela Gomez with a 6-2, 3-6 (7) victory. The rookie will go up against Elizabet Danailova from Georgia State in the quarters.

Monica Matias and Ksenia Kuznetsova opened the day in Round of 16 of the singles main draw.

Matias faced Brooke Austin from Florida. The native of Puerto Rico could not top the No. 5 seed in a 6-0, 6-2 loss.

In a matchup of Kuznetsova, the No. 13 seed, and Georgia's No. 8 seed Marta Gonzalez, the Knights' rookie forced a second-set tiebreak, but fell 6-4, 7-6 (3).

In doubles action, Bordes and Emilia Granstrom advanced in the consolation draw with an 8-1 victory over Aylen Hubeaut and Haleigh Porter from Florida A&M.

Kuznetsova and Martinez fell to ITA/Oracle No. 3 doubles team in the nation and No. 1 seed this weekend of Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones from Georgia, 8-3.

Matias and Natalia Serrano dropped their Round of 16 matchup with Florida's No. 3 seeded team of Brooke Austin and Katie Kubic, 8-4.
