VALENTINE, Neb. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team is tied for sixth after one round at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State at The Prairie Club - Dunes Course in Nebraska.
Manuel Elvira and Kyler Tate led the way for the Knights in the first round. The duo both carded 3-under scores of 69 in the first round and are currently tied for 13th. Tate carded six birdies to go with oen bogey and a double bogey. After an up-and-down front nine, Tate tallied six pars and three birdies after the turn. Elvira was a bit more consistent and did not record a score over par all day. He was 1-under after nine holes and tallied two more birdies on the back nine.
Donnie Trosper is just one stroke behind Tate and Elivra at 2-under. He's currently tied for 26th. Bobby Bai, who is playing as an individual in this tournament, is also -2 and tied for 26th.
Juuso Kahlos is 1-over and tied for 56th. Jake Grula is +2 and tied for 64th.
As a team, the Knights are 7-under and trail Santa Clara by 16 strokes. Kansas, Tennessee, Boise State and Houston are in front of the Knights heading into round two of the 13-team tournament.
