ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's tennis team is set to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional this weekend, hosted by Georgia.
On Thursday, the Knights open with singles qualifying action as No. 1 seeded Emilia Granstrom and No. 3 seeded Natalia Serrano will play in the second round. Thanks to a first-round bye, the duo will need to win just one match in order to earn a spot in the singles main draw.
Serrano and Monica Matias will team up for the doubles qualifying draw on Thursday. The UCF pairing will go up against Brenna Reilly and Jada Tijani from Kennesaw State with a bid to the main draw on the line.
The main draw for singles and qualifying will begin on Friday.
Earlier this week, Ksenia Kuznetsova and Maria Martinez competed at the ITF $25,000 McLeod For Health Florence Open in Florence, S.C. Kuznetsova defeated Amy Zhu in the first round of the singles qualifying draw, 7-5, 6-3, but dropped her second round matchup to Sabrina Santamaria, 6-2, 6-3. Martinez squared off with the No. 12 seeded Caty McNally in the first round and fell, 7-5, 6-2.
