UCF-ECU Postgame Notes

GENERAL

  • UCF captains: Jamiyus Pittman, Jordan Franks, Chris Johnson, Aaron Evans, Seyvon Lowry
  • Coin Toss: ECU wins toss, deferred. Knights chose to receive in the south end zone.
  • Attendance: 40,287
  • UCF improved its record against ECU to 11-6.
  • The Knights are 5-0 for the first time since 1988, and it is their first 5-0 record as a Division I program.
  • The Knights found the end zone on offense, defense and special teams, the first time since Oct. 1, 2016, against ECU.
  • Nine different players scored touchdowns for UCF.
  • Saturday was the most points for the Knights since 63 points at Liberty in 2001.
  • The Knights have scored 14 straight quarters dating back to the second period at Maryland.


OFFENSE

  • The Knights have recorded at least 500 yards of offense in three straight games, the first time since 1998.
  • With touchdowns on their two opening drives, the Knights had a streak of 10 straight scoring drives, dating back to the Cincinnati game.
  • The Knights have scored on their opening drive in their last three games.
  • Jordan Akins set a new career high with his third touchdown reception of the season. The 48-yard strike was his longest catch of the season.
  • McKenzie Milton now has four games with multiple touchdown this year, after having three all of last season.
  • Taj McGowan has scored a rushing touchdown in every game this season.
  • UCF set a new season high for points in a first half with 42 against ECU and points in a game.
  • Noah Vedral's 13-yard touchdown run in the fourth was the first of his career.
  • Five different Knights carried it into the end zone on the ground.

DEFENSE

  • The Knights have not allowed an opening drive score in four of their five games this season.
  • Jamiyus Pittman caught his first career touchdown pass on a four-yard toss from Milton.
  • The Pittman touchdown was the fourth time the Tank formation, featuring Pittman, Trysten Hill and Tony Guerad, has scored this season and the first passing touchdown for a defensive player involved.
  • Tre Neal recorded his first interception return for a touchdown on his second pick of the year.
  • UCF now has two interception returns for touchdowns this season, along with Mike Hughes' pick six against Maryland. It was also the second straight season with a pick six against the Pirates.
  • ECU did not convert a third down until its fifth attempts.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Kicker Matthew Wright moved into eighth in career made PATs. Wright has made 86 PATs in his career. Wright also passed Michael Torres (2006-07) for eighth in career points kicking. The senior has 191 points in his career. Wright tied the school record for attempted and made PATs, by going nine-for-nine.
  • Mike Hughes' 66-yard punt return back to the house in the third quarter was the Knights' first punt return for a touchdown since Joe Burnett's 83-yard return against Tulsa on Dec. 1, 2007.
