Knights Prepared for ITA Regionals

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Five UCF men's tennis players are set to play in the 2017 ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle this weekend on the campus of Georgia Tech. The ITA Southeast Regional will be played at the Byers Tennis Complex from Friday through Tuesday.

ITA/Oracle No. 23 Korey Lovett, Mikhail Sokolovskiy, Danny Kerznerman, Enrique Paya and Vasyl Kiselyov will compete against individuals from 15 other regional programs in singles and doubles action. Winners will punch their tickets to the 2017 Oracle/ITA National fall Championships in Palm Desert, Calif., on Nov. 1-5.

The qualifying draw starts on Friday with the main draw beginning on Saturday.

UCF opened its fall slate last weekend with a pair of tournaments. Kiselov, Sokolovskiy, Paya and Kerznerman battled in the Bedford Cup. Reaching the finals in the in the A and B Flight, Sokolovskiy and Kiselyov finished with runner-up honors.

Lovett started his fall at the F33 Futures/Texas Tamale Company Houston Open, where he reached the second round of the singles qualifying draw.

Kiselyov will open the ITA Regional for the Black and Gold this weekend in the singles qualifying draw second round, after receiving a first-round bye.

In the singles main draw. Sokolovskiy is seeded 15th and will play Jordan Belga from Florida. Lovett will square off with Chase Wood from Florida State, who edged Sokolovskiy in the Bedford Cup finals. Paya's tournament will open against the No. 9 seeded Walker Duncan from Georgia. Kerznerman has a first-round matchup with Terrence Whitehurst of Florida State.

Doubles action will feature a partnership of Kerznerman and Lovett as the No. 11 seed with a first-round bye. Paya and Sokolovskiy open the weekend at the No. 14 seed, facing Stetson's Linus Bergevi and Cotter Decoste.

Freshman Gabriel Decamps will head to the USA F34 Futures/Harlingen Country Club Men's $25,000 Futures in Harlingen, Texas, starting on Monday.
