Leadership 101

Opens in a new window Knights Pride

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Sophomore Knights kicked off their programming for the year with a Leadership 101 workshop taking place in the Wayne Densch Center for Student-Athlete Leadership. Hosted by the Office of Student-Athlete Welfare and Development (SAWD), the mission for the program is to contribute to the holistic development of each student-athlete at UCF.

For the first time, the SAWD staff introduced Leadership 101 in an effort to reach all student-athletes when it comes to leadership programming. Previously, the only leadership-specific programming was offered through the Student-Athlete Leadership Institute. SALI is a program in which student-athlete's must be nominated by coaches and advisors to be enrolled, which allows about 20 percent of the student-athlete population take part in the two-year program.

The Leadership 101 program has become an opportunity for all Knights to engage in leadership programming.  The workshop is structured to focus on the foundation of leadership. The agenda for the night included a discussion of what values are and the role they play in leadership in addition to engaging group-think and activities.

The next program hosted for sophomore Knights is Branded a Knight taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017.
