ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team got its 2017-18 campaign under way Friday at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Club. Paced by Juuso Kahlos, the Knights are in fifth place after one round of action.
Kahlos was one-under par for the day Friday and sits in a tie for second place heading into the second round. He was two over after the front nine, carding a double bogey on the ninth hole. But the Finland native got hot late in the round, notching three straight birdies on holes 15-17. He is four strokes off the leader. Kyler Tate was just behind Kahlos. Tate fired an even-par round of 71 Friday and is tied for ninth place.
Donnie Trosper is tied for 23rd at 3-over. Bobby Bai sits in a tie for 44th at +6 and Manuel Elvira was 7-over and is in a tie for 52nd.
Tommy Cao had a solid debut in his first collegiate round of golf. Playing as an individual, the freshman from China was one-over par and is tied for 15th.
