ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's tennis team announced its fall schedule today. The Knights will compete in eight events between September and November.
"I am excited for our team to be able to go out and compete again," head coach Bryan Koniecko said. "They have put in the time in the last few months, and I am sure they are eager to get out there. The fall will be great for us to see where we stack up against the best competition in college tennis."
UCF will open its fall campaign on Sept. 25 at the ITF $15,000 in Charleston, S.C. Pulling double-duty, the Knights will also play in the Bedford Cup hosted by USF, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
Back-to-back weeks of tournaments by the ITF dominate the middle of October with the ITF $25,000 in Sumter, S.C., and the ITF $25,000 in Florence, S.C.
The Black and Gold will venture to Athens, Ga., for the ITA Southeast Regionals. Oct. 13-17, with the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships slated to start on Nov. 1.
Rounding out the fall, UCF will compete in the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., on Nov. 3, before finishing the slate with the Florida State Invitational Nov. 4-6.
The Knights went 13-9 in Koniecko's first season with the Black and Gold, reaching the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Championships. UCF returns seniors Monica Matias and Emilia Granstrom, along with junior Natalia Serrano.
