CHARLESTON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF women's golf team improved one spot on the leaderboard in each of the three rounds during the season-opening Ocean Course Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston.
The Knights were 11th after round one, 10th after the second round and finished the three-round tournament in ninth place.
UCF was paced by Kaeli Jones, who turned in a Top 20 finish in her first event of the season. Jones was 7-over for the tournament after carding scores of 78-72-76-226 (+7) for the tournament.
Knight rookie Ana Laura Collado was the next best finisher for the Black and Gold, taking 43rd place. She finished 11-over par with a three-round total of 230. Anna Hack and Kayla Kozak were just behind Collado in 45th place with a 231 (+12) score. Maria Balacazar finished 54th after carding a three-round score of 234 (+15).
The Knights are in action again Sept. 15-17 at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
