ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- UCF head football coach Scott Frost wants his team to be confident and aggressive heading into Saturday night's huge American Athletic Conference game with Memphis at Spectrum Stadium.

All week, the message to the Knights has been that they aren't good enough to believe any hype. Frost has been telling his team to prepare the same way they did for last weekend's big road win at Maryland.

"It's going to be a battle," Frost told members of the media after the team's Thursday workout. "This is a challenge for us, an opportunity for us. I want our guys to go in and attack. We want to be the hunters, not the hunted. (Memphis was) picked to win the (AAC) West. So, we've got a chance to play against somebody that's a really good team, that was picked really high. Their skill on offense sets them apart. Their scheme on offense sets them apart. Their defense is improving every week. They're sound and the run around."

Frost said the Black and Gold will need to limit the Tigers from gaining yardage and points in big chunks.

"If you look at their games, they win on big plays, whether it's kick returns or interceptions for touchdowns or long passes or runs," Frost said. "That's where they get their points. We've got to limit their big plays in every phase of the game."

Frost also made his usual weekly appearance on Open Mike with Mike Bianchi and Brandon Kravitz Thursday morning on 96.9 The Game. Bianchi speculated that the winner of the UCF-Memphis game would likely be ranked in the Top 25 next week. But that didn't seem to mean anything to Frost.

"Not really," the UCF head coach told Bianchi. "The big thing that means something to me is that if you win this game, I think we've got a chance to win some more and put our name in for the championship of the East in our league. We still have a lot more games to win at that point. But every league game you can get is so important, because at the end of the year, we'd love to be in that championship game. There are certainly a lot of good teams between us and there, but getting this one would be huge."

Kravitz was interested in the nine different players carrying the ball last week. Frost took the opportunity to discuss all the playmakers he has on the offensive side of the ball.

"The game plan was part of that," Frost said. "We had some fly sweep stuff we were ready to give to (Adrian Killins Jr.) and a couple more plays we were going to hand off to Tre'Quan. We played Taj and Cordarrian and Otis had a really good game for us at a couple different positions. Obviously, our quarterback is going to run it once or twice. I don't think that will be unusual. Maybe that's a little higher than normal. We've got some guys I love to get the ball in their hands, Tre'Quan being one and AK being another. Guys like that, we're going to find ways to get it to them a few times a game and let our running backs do the rest."
