ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's tennis team has a busy weekend ahead playing in two tournaments.
 
Maria Martinez and Ksenia Kuznetsova are into the semifinals of the doubles main draw at the ITF $15,000 Charleston, S.C. The freshmen duo handled Emily Appleton and Thaisa Grana Pedretti in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Kuznetsova played her way into the main draw of the singles event, before falling to Pedretti yesterday. The Russian international pushed Pedretti but lost 7-5, 7-6(3).
 
The rest of the Knights open their fall slate tomorrow at the Bedford Cup in Tampa. An annual tournament of the Division I programs from Florida, the Bedford Cup will be hosted by USF.
 
Natalia Serrano, Monica Matias, Emilia Granstrom will represent the Black and Gold in Tampa.
 
All Division I programs in Florida except one will join USF on the courts as Florida State, Stetson, UNF, FAU, FGCU, FAMU, UCF, FIU, Miami and Bethune-Cookman are set to compete tomorrow. Florida will not participate in this year's tournament.
 
Matches will take place starting at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Finals and consolation finals in both singles and doubles will take place on Sunday. Times of the Sunday matches are to be determined.
