Knights Rookie Camp: Effective Communication

Opens in a new window Knights Rookie Camp - Time Management

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The second program of the Knights Rookie Camp was held in the Wayne Densch Center for Student-Athlete Leadership. Over 80 freshmen were in attendance to learn how to effectively communicate on and off the field.

Wednesday night's program was initiated by understanding what communication is, identifying different types of communication, knowing how to communicate in different environments and using proper etiquette.

Focusing in on the different types of communication, the program gave student-athletes the opportunity to apply their daily academic and athletic obligations directly to this week's topic. As the Knights took the stage to act out different scenarios when using communication, they learned how to articulate their wants and needs effectively in an appropriate manner.

"Teaching us how to effectively communicate is a great way to help us begin to build meaningful connections and help brand ourselves in a positive way", said track and field's Courtney Morgan.

Communication is a key component to the development of student-athletes. As our freshman continue their careers at UCF, they will continue to develop the skills we've touched on and be better prepared to put them in use.

Knights Rookie Camp will resume in Spring 2018 with three more sessions.
