CINCINNATI, Ohio (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 14 UCF women's soccer team played Cincinnati to a 0-0 draw after a pair of overtime periods to open American Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening at Gettler Stadium.

"It was a battle, playing Cincinnati at their place," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak told the American Digital Network following the match. "It's always very difficult. We always have a hard time here. Credit to both teams. You can tell it's conference play now. It's like a championship game every time we go up against each other."

UCF (4-1-1) kept its unbeaten streak alive with the tie. The Knights also kept their league-opening streak alive. Since joining The American in 2013, UCF has not dropped its league opener.

Junior Vera Varis faced nine shots, making four saves to keep the Bearcats, who are ranked 20th in the NCAA RPI, off the scoreboard.

UCF took seven shots on goal, including four from freshman Dina Orschmann. Junior Maura Aman just missed tallying the game-winner, as her shot hit the crossbar and landed just outside the goal line in the 86th minute.

The Knights continue conference play on Sunday, heading to ECU for a 1 p.m. match.
