ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- UCF head coach Scott Frost made his last rounds with the media Thursday prior to Saturday's contest at Maryland. Frost discussed his team getting back on the field after a layoff of longer than three weeks since the season-opener vs. FIU.
"We're excited," Frost told the media after practice. "We've had a good week of practice. The guys are ready to play ... coaches, everybody's anxious to play. It's time to go up and test ourselves against a good Big Ten team."
Frost said his team was in the right mindset coming out of this week's practices.
"I love it when we're loose, as long as we're still dialed in and executing," he said. "That's the way it looked today. Guys were out there having fun, but we didn't make many mistakes. If we can execute and have fun, that's the most powerful team."

Earlier in the day, the Knights' head coach made his weekly appearance on 96.9 The Game's Open Mike radio show with Mike Bianchi and Brandon Kravitz.
Bianchi asked Frost if the long layoff makes this week's game feel like a season-opener.
"Yeah, it kind of feels like we're starting over," Frost said. "We got all prepared and played our first game. Now, we've had three weeks off. It kinda feels like we're starting the season fresh. There's some good about it. The guys are fresh and rested, but obviously we're starting all over again getting out there and competing. There's some good and bad about it."
Frost also addressed last season's double-overtime loss to Maryland at Spectrum Stadium.
"We had every chance to win that game," Frsot said. "We were playing a freshman quarterback and some young guys on offense. I think the defense played really well overall. We had plenty of chances to score a couple more times and win the game. We turned it over too many times and made too many mistakes. I think the guys remember that and they're looking forward to playing."
