ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- UCF head football coach Scott Frost made his regular weekly appearance on Open Mike with Mike Bianchi this morning on 96.9 The Game and later addressed the media after the Knights' final walk-through prior to Friday night's game with Memphis. As could be expected, much of the conversations focused around Hurricane Irma and the team's preparations after the game was moved from Saturday to Friday.

"It changed our preparation and it kind of changed our preparation midstream," Frost said, while also stating it may have helped his team lock in even more. "We throw curveballs at our guys all the time. This was a curveball thrown at them. I almost think they responded and increased their focus when we threw that curveball at them. So, I feel like they're as prepared to go into a game as they ever are."

When it comes to the Memphis Tigers, facing the preseason favorite in the American Athletic Conference West Division is a chance for the Knights to show their progression, Frost said.

"The message (to the team) is we're ready to take the next big step as a program," Frost said. "This is just the first of several opportunities that we're going to have, but I want our guys to be excited about an opportunity to knock off one of the best teams in our league."

During Frost's interview with Bianchi and co-host Brandon Kravitz on Open Mike opened with a bit of trivia. Perhaps Bianchi was listening to Coach Frost's weekly radio show with Voice of the Knight Marc Daniels Wednesday evening. A trivia contest with a fan has become a regular part of Frost's appearances on his radio show. For the record, Frost was 2-0 on trivia questions from Bianchi. He was correct in identifying the Marianas Trench as the deepest part of the planet's oceans and also knew that it was deeper than Mt. Everest is high.

When talk turned to the game, Frost discussed quarterback McKenzie Milton's play in the season-opening victory over FIU.

"He went out and played with a bunch of confidence," Frost said of Milton. "He understands the offense. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He hit all the passes he was supposed to hit, made good decisions and operated our offense with a lot of pace. That's good to see. He did that a lot last year in practice. He did it at times in games, but I saw a different kid out there the last game. I saw a very confident quarterback. That's what it's going to take to lead our team."
