Back To School BBQ

Opens in a new window Knights Pride

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Athletics tradition continued on this past weekend. More than 400 student-athletes, staff and family members joined together in the department's Second Annual Welcome Back BBQ on Sunday at Spectrum Stadium.

UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Daniel J. White kicked off the event highlighting some of last year's success, which included American Athletic Conference championships, taking home the War on I4 Rivalry trophy, and - best of all - achieving the highest student-athlete GPA of 3.27 during Spring 2017.

The UCF Athletics family enjoyed Sonny's BBQ, played games, and showed off their dance moves before focusing in on their respective seasons.

"The BBQ is a great way to kick off a new year and celebrate the success of our previous year," said Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Welfare & Development Brandi Stewart. "Having all the sports and staff in one location was a great way to set the expectation for comprehensive excellence while having fun."

New partnerships within athletics, as well as new additions to the Kenneth G. Dixon Athletic Village, have surely sparked excitement among the athletics community as another successful year is to be expected.
