ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team officially opened its season on Wednesday as the Knights held their first training day of 2017.
The two-a-day session involved fitness testing early in the morning before on-field work in the afternoon.
In just one week, UCF welcomes Miami to the UCF Soccer Complex for the first of two preseason exhibitions. Slated for a 7 p.m. start, fans will get their first look at the six newcomers that will join 13 returners. Headlining those coming back for the Black and Gold is 2016 American Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year Saga Fredriksson and all-conference picks Morgan Ferrara and Zandy Soree.
The Knights open the 2017 campaign on Aug. 18 at South Carolina before returning to Orlando to host Stetson in the home opener. UCF will play nine matches at the UCF Soccer Complex in 2017, hosting four squads who earned bids to the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Among those making the trip to The City Beautiful is the alma mater of both Sahaydaks, North Carolina, on Aug. 25.
