ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team returns to the UCF Soccer Complex to host Stetson on Sunday.
Slated for a 1 p.m. start, the match will also stream on UCFKnights.TV.
UCF (0-1) plays Stetson for the second straight season, but hosts the Hatters for the first time since 2013. Last season, the Black and Gold struck first, but Stetson evened it up heading into halftime. UCF won in dramatic fashion, scoring on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. The Knights lead the all-time series 20-0.
Last Time Out
• UCF opened its season on the road facing a ranked opponent for the second straight season. The Knights dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 4 South Carolina.
• Despite being down a player after drawing a red card in the 15th minute, UCF battled the Gamecocks the entire match.
• The Black and Gold dominated the start of the second half, out-shooting South Carolina 4-0 with several shots just inches from turning into goals.
Home Sweet Home
• The Knights host Stetson for the first official match at the UCF Soccer Complex this season.
• UCF is 2-2 in home openers under head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak.
• The Knights topped Massachusetts, 4-0, in the 2016 opener to mark the 100th career victory for the Sahaydaks.
NEXT UP
The Knights host No. 6 UNC at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25. The squads will meet for the second straight season, but the first time in Orlando under Coach Roberts Sahaydak.
