ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Think you have what it takes to compete alongside some of the nation's top student-athletes? The Knights' cross country and track & field teams will be holding open tryouts for UCF students.
Those interested in cross country can meet with Coach Johnny Gray on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 1-3 p.m. in his office. Please contact him at jgray@athletics.ucf.edu.
Those interested in track and field will meet with Coach Bolden on Monday, Sept. 18 between 12-3 p.m. at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
Any student interested in trying out is required to provide an updated fall 2017 class schedule (at least 12 credits) in addition to thoroughly completing the forms found in the "related content" section of this release. Be sure to also bring a photocopy of the front and back of your current medical insurance card, proof of a recent physical in the last six months and the results from a sickle cell blood test.
If any of the necessary requirements are not met before the respective meetings on Aug. 23 and Sept. 18, that student will not be permitted to participate in the tryout. Those interested in track and field should bring necessary track equipment (spikes). Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.
Last season, UCF captured the American Athletic Conference indoor championship, and sent its 4x100 relay team to the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the last five years.
