ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) - The Countdown to Kickoff officially began Friday afternoon as the 2017 UCF Football Countdown to Kickoff Luncheon got Knight fans excited for the upcoming season.

Following a morning practice outdoors, the Knights made their way to CFE Arena to join fans in gearing up for the 2017 campaign with highlight videos and player interviews, in addition to comments from Head Coach Scott Frost and his former coach at Nebraska, Dr. Tom Osborne.

OSBORNE PRAISES UCF
On being at UCF...
"It's been fun to be down here and get a better look at facilities and what they're doing. I was out at practice today for about an hour and they've got some good looking athletes. They have a good chance to have a fine season, and certainly be improved."

On UCF and Knights Athletics...
"I think it has a lot of potential. It's still a young university, but growing very rapidly. It looks like the athletic programs are really improving substantially."

On Scott Frost at UCF...
"He's got a good situation here. He's got a lot to do here. One thing about athletics - you better focus on the here and the now and not be thinking down the road.  I think he can take UCF to a pretty good level."

OSBORNE TALKS SCOTT FROST
On keeping in touch with Scott Frost...
"I talk to Scott quite a bit. Whenever he comes back to Nebraska I try to see him. I talk to him on the phone occasionally, so we stay in touch. I watch as many of their games as I can."

On Scott Frost as a coach...
"He's obviously made of the right stuff. He's a little bit unique, because he's had a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. He played quarterback, but when he went into the NFL, he was primarily on the defensive side of the ball. He's very well prepared to do what he's doing. He's articulate, he's intelligent, and he has good values. He has good character and he treats the players well. He's got the whole package."
