ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF rising junior Donnie Trosper has qualified to take part in the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Trosper finished as runner-up at a qualifying tournament, played Friday, at Forest Akers West in Lansing, Mich. He shot a 139 for the two-round stroke-play event, finishing just one stroke back and earning the right to move on to the U.S. Amateur Championship.
The U.S. Amateur is slated for Aug. 14-20 at Riviera Country Club and Bel-Air Country Club in California. A field of 312 amateur golfers will take part in two rounds of stroke play, with the top 64 moving on to match play.
Trosper, a Canton, Mich. native, has been with the Knights for two seasons. He is a member of the UCF team that is coming off an NCAA Regional title.
