Rising Star

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Incoming freshman Caterina Di Fonzo was selected as the rising star of the World Rowing Federation for the month of June.

A native of Como, Italy, she won the Italian title in 2014 as a member of the women's four. Di Fonzo became a Junior World champion in the pair in 2016, and rowed in the four for the Senior European Rowing Championships in 2017. The World Rowing Federation's rising star accolade is one of the highest levels of recognition that a young rower can receive.

Di Fonzo begins her career with the Black and Gold in January. The Knights, who captured their third consecutive American Athletic Conference title in 2017, begin preparations for the 2018 campaign when classes resume in the fall.
