ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Following an impressive sophomore season on the mound, UCF's Bryce Tucker has earned an invitation to the 2017 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training camp this summer in North Carolina.
Tucker, a First Team All-Conference selection by the American Athletic Conference, led the Knights with nine saves and a 1.66 ERA in his second season in the Black and Gold. The Apopka, Fla., native struck out 55 batters and walked just 12 in 27 appearances.
USA Baseball training camp will be held in Cary, N.C. with the team competing in a series of games with teams from the Coastal Plains League from June 20-25. The U.S. Team will then host international friendship series against Chinese Taipei and Cuba from June 27-July 7 in Cary, Charlotte and Durham, N.C.
Training camp invitees will compete for a spot on the final 24-man roster.
In addition to training with USA Baseball this summer, Tucker will also play with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League, with the season officially starting on June 14.
Tucker helped lead the Knights to a successful first season under head coach Greg Lovelady. UCF picked up 40 wins, won its first American Athletic Conference regular season championship, and earned its first NCAA Regional berth since 2012.
