ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF has nine players from the 2017 squad set to compete across the nation in seven collegiate summer leagues. Knights are slated to play in Alaska, Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.
 
Sophomore lefty Bryce Tucker, who tallied nine saves, makes his way to the Cape Cod League to play with the Orleans Firebirds in Massachusetts. The season starts up on June 14. 
 
Making the cross-country trip to Alaska to compete with the Matsu Miners is sophomore righty Thad Ward. The Alaskan Baseball League (ABL) season started up last night for the Ft. Myers, Fla., native, who posted a 4-0 mark out of the bullpen.
 
A pair of Knight infielders in sophomore Matthew Mika and freshman Rylan Thomas are headed to Wisconsin to play with the Lakeshore Chinooks in the Northwoods League. Thomas was recently named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper after earning The American Position Player Rookie of the Year. Mika received The American All-Conference Second Team honors. The campaign for the Chinooks (3-5) began on June 1.
 
Sophomore catcher Michael Higgins and junior outfielder Maximillian Wood are set to join the Staunton Braves in the Valley Baseball League (VBL). The Braves (2-3) started the season on June 1.
 
Freshman Dallas Beaver will make the trip to Ohio, slated to play with the Cincinnati Steam in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL). The Steam open the campaign on June 10.

Sophomores catcher Anthony George and infielder Ray Alejo are set to compete with the Altamonte Springs Scorpions in the Florida Collegiate Summer League (FCSL). The campaign for the Scorpions began on June 1.
