ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The four-member signing class for the Knights announced in April was recognized at No. 13 in the 2017 Spring Class Rankings by the Tennis Recruiting Network. UCF was also tabbed as the top of the organization's mid-major recruiting class.
The quartet inked by head coach Bryan Koniecko featured a duo from Spain in Sylvia Bordes and Maria Martinez, along with Ksenia Kuznetsova from Russia and Rebeka Stolmar from Hungary.
Bordes has been ranked as high as No. 36 in Spain. The Denia native captured the title in the Under-16 Division of the Matua Madrid Open and posted runner-up finishes at the Under-16 Division of the Valencia 500 Open and the Spanish Junior National Double Championships.
Martinez has held rankings as high as No. 22 in Spain, No. 646 in WTA Singles and No. 431 in WTA Doubles. The Benidorm native has won the title in the doubles bracket of the Grade 1 ITF $10,000 Tournament.
Kuznetsova is a two-time doubles champion at the Spanish Championships. The Moscow, Russia, native is ranked in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Rankings at No. 1000 in singles and No. 991 in doubles.
Stolmar is a five-time Hungarian singles champion and has captured six International Tennis Foundation (ITF) Pro Circuit doubles titles. The Budapest native ranked as high as No. 86 on the ITF Junior Circuit.
UCF posted a 13-9 dual-match mark in 2017 and earned a spot in the quarterfinals of The American Championship. The addition of these four signees will provide depth for the Knights, who bring back a majority of their roster along with all-conference selection Monica Matias.
The Knights are set to host a number of tennis camps from July 9-14. More information about registering can be found by clicking here.
