ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- Three UCF men's golfers were honored by the American Athletic Conference Friday. Freshman Bobby Bai, sophomore Donnie Trosper and junior Manuel Elvira were all recipients of year-end awards from The American.
Bai was named the conference's Freshman of the Year and was also named a member of the all-conference team. Trosper and Elivra were named to the all-conference team as well, with Trosper being a unanimous selection.
"Bobby, Donnie and Manuel have all had great tournament success throughout this year," UCF head coach Bryce Wallor said. "Each one of them has led our team during important stretches of a very long college golf season. These individual honors show the talent that each one of these young men possess."
Bai ranks No. 3 on the team in scoring average at 73.4. He has compiled three Top 10 finishes and four Top 20 finishes in 10 events during his first season as a collegiate golfer. Trosper ranks second on the team in scoring average at 72.8. He took the individual title at the Hartford Hawks Invitational early in the season and also has four Top 20 finishes to his credit. Elvira leads the Knights with a stroke average of 72.6. He leads the team with four Top 10 finishes and five Top 20 finishes. Elvira won the Homewood Suites FGCU Invitational in the fall and took runner-up honors at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite earlier this spring.
The Knights are currently preparing for the NCAA Murfreesboro Regional, which will be hosted by Middle Tennessee State May 15-17 at The Grove golf course.
