NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF baseball team landed in the Bayou Thursday, as it visits Tulane for a pivotal conference series. The Knights will battle the Green Wave for three games May 5-7 at Turchin Stadium.

The Black and Gold are currently locked in a five-way tie atop The American standings at 9-6 with Tulane, Houston, UConn, and South Florida. UConn is on the road at Houston while South Florida plays host to East Carolina.

UCF enters the weekend with a 31-14 overall record and boasting the nation's third-best team ERA of 2.64. The Knights also remain among the best in the country on the bases, stealing 85-96, the eighth most in NCAA Division I.

Tulane has dropped five of its last seven games but swept conference opponent UConn and took two out of three from both South Florida and Cincinnati last month.

The Knights will send senior righty Robby Howell to the mound Friday and freshman Joe Sheridan gets the nod Sunday. Saturday will see a change to the rotation as redshirt sophomore Chris Williams is scheduled to make his first weekend start.

With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, each series becomes crucial in determining a regular-season champ and setting up the conference tournament at the end of the month.

First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. E.S.T. with Saturday's tilt slated for 5 p.m. and Sunday's finale set for 2 p.m. The Voice of the Knights Marc Daniels will have the call on FM 96.9 The Game, and iHeartRadio or fans can follow along via live stats.

Tulane will also stream the series here through a paid subscription service and Sunday's finale will stream live on the American Digital Network.
