ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- Two UCF Knights teams are among the best in the nation with regard to Academic Progress Rate. The UCF football and women's tennis programs have all earned public recognition through the NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program.

To be recognized through the Academic Performance Program, a team must have posted multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. It's the sixth straight year for UCF's women's tennis program to be recognized. The football team has now been honored in consecutive years.

"This is just another example of the tradition of academic success from our student-athletes," UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White said. "Congratulations to each of the student-athletes, coaches and staff who were a part of earning this recognition. Being in the top 10 percent for Academic Progress Rate is a great accomplishment."

Each year, the NCAA honors selected NCAA Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The current multi-year APR includes the last four reporting periods through 2015-16. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. Multiyear APRs for all Division I sports teams will be announced May 10.
